Bugged DMF Artifacts/Monthlies - Update

UPDATE: There's a new blue post concerning the Captured Insignia and Adventurer's Journal:
"We’ve identified a number of issues with the Darkmoon Faire this month, and they should be resolved for the February faire. Specifically, we found problems with:

• Attempting to turn in the Adventurer's Journal and Captured Insignia which are associated with these quests “The Captured Journal” and “The Enemy's Insignia”. If you are having difficulty turning in these items, please contact our customer service department at http://us.battle.net/support/en/ and they will be able to provide you with 5 Darkmoon Prize Tickets per item."

So be sure to submit a ticket if you're experiencing bugs with the two artifacts mentioned above. NOTE: If the tickets awarded for the two bugged artifacts are actual items and not currency, we can't use them to buy anything from the DMF. If this happens to you, just speak with the GM again and hopefully it will be sorted out.

Also, we finally have confirmation that artifacts will ONLY drop in level-appropriate dungeons now:
1. This was a bug that is being hotfixed. A character that is not level-appropriate for a dungeon should not get Monstrous Egg, Mysterious Grimoire, Imbued Crystal, or Ornate Weapon drops. This is irrespective of whether or not the character has a Darkmoon Adventurer's Guide in her bags.

A blue updated the post addressing the bugged monthlies:
"Update, 04/01

A hotfix was deployed last night in order to solve the issue and the monthly quests should now be available again. However, if your character had already encountered a bug with some of the monthly quests, then you will need to wait until the next Darkmoon Faire starting on February 5 in order to complete those quests and the related achievements.

Once again we apologise for any inconvenience this issue may have caused."

So to clarify - If you've encountered ANY bug with the artifacts and/or monthly quests THIS month, you will simply have to wait to do them again NEXT month. If you have NOT encountered any glitches with this month's artifacts/monthlies (perhaps if it's your first time completing them and such), you are fine and should be good to go.

I just tested out two of the bugged artifacts, the Captured Insignia and Adventurer's Journal, and both are still giving me the "you've completed that quest" error. I'll continue to try throughout the week in hopes that they'll reset just before the faire ends, but I'm having huge doubts.

On top of the seemingly lowered droprate for the artifacts, the high competition, the sometimes bugged rolls, and the recently implemented level-appropriate requirement, we now also lose a month's worth of SETS of 5-10 tickets.

I understand Blizzard wanting to extend content for as long as possible, but this is a bit ridiculous.

The DMF is shaping out to be... disappointing in its execution to say the least.

  1. Seriously?! That sucks. So since I encountered that with 2 artifacts that are sitting in my bag, I'll just have to wait until next month... So I guess no second pet for me like I was planning. Awesome.

They made it level appropriate? Ugh... I don't run many instances so now I can't just solo farm my artifacts.

I guess it's good I'm not super crazy about any of the pets? Maybe I'll just hold off for my purple tallstrider and call it a day with the faire.

  2. It's really annoying. Pretty sure Blizzard has the option to hard reset everyone's monthly to make the hotfix work, but they don't like it when we get advantages over fun stuff. Ironically they were totally okay with people exploiting the first DMF and turning in two sets of monthlies, allowing some people to have the mount/extra pets. I just don't get it.

  3. @Diana: There hasn't been any official announcement that they made the artifact drop come from only level-appropriate content, but from Wowhead comments and other reports, it seems very likely. Either that or the droprate has been nerfed so hard, max level characters just aren't seeing artifacts from lower level dungeons anymore.

  4. Laaaaaaame. I bought enough artifacts last month to turn in for the next 6 months. Only thing I don't get are the treaty one and the raid one. I'm missing out enough as it is, having 2 not work this month is a huge blow to me.

  5. @uDH: Yea, this fix doesn't really seem like much of a fix. Feels more like a bandaid... a teeny tiny one for an injury that requires surgery and then stiches.

@pandy: Agreed. 2 might not seem like much to some, but for others missing two artifacts during one DMF is a huge loss. The only way to compensate would be to try for the PVP chest which is... well even the active PVP'ers in my guild call the DMF arena just a zerg-fest and "pretty stupid".

  6. so they now allow you to petition the tickets manually, which I did, and got a reply about an hour later that they had removed the quest items and gave me 10 tickets. The tickets are sent via mail and are an actual item. they aren't added to your currency tab.

  7. @pandy: If they're actual items and not currency, that could be another problem. As long as they're items and not currency, I don't think we'll be able to use them to purchase the pets/mounts. :\

  8. Yeaaah, I got my 10 tickets about 20 mins after I contacted customer support, I'll take back all my angry comments (for now).

I also wonder what they mean by "level-appropriate", as in anything available within the specific dungeon list, or any dungeon that still yields experience. I'll have to test out some lv80 WOLK dungeons to see if they still drop artifacts.

  9. @uDH: I'm not entirely sure what "level-appropriate" means either, but it could be either mobs/content that would still yield experience or dungeons within 5 - 10 levels? Or perhaps it has to do with ilvl? Just to complicate things further, I remember reading a comment on WarcraftPets Forums that Utgard Pinnacle dropped an egg artifact for a player farming for the prot-drake mount. So... O_o
