The "Other" Side

Hooray. Just collected a Horde Balloon on an alt! That's one horde pet down, three more to go I think.

Even though there's still no confirmation that alliance characters will be able to use horde pets and vice versa in MoP, I'm still going to go about and collect the horde specific companions. What can I say? I'm the type that just wants to be prepared for all possible scenarios. :P

  1. I'm sure you probably already know this, but I was summoning alliance pets on my horde character. (haven't done it vice versa because of how I character transfered) It's actually really hilarious to see a human Guild Herald in Orgrimmar. I love it!

    1. @Rachelle J: Yea, pets aren't faction specific through the Pet Journal on the beta. I'm just wondering if it will stay that way or if Blizzard will make it faction specific, despite the account wide feature. Still too soon to say!

    2. My feeling is that why restrict it? There's only three faction specific pets and if we can already pull the journal pets out opposite faction, there's no reason to change it. Of course, they might make it so you can't sell pet cages to the opposite faction if you have those certain pets, but like you said, just not enough information to know yet.

    3. @Rachelle J: I definitely agree with you on this, especially if the Pet Journal is meant to truly be account wide.

I guess one reason to restrict it is that some players may feel a sense of immersion loss by allowing the use of cross faction pets. Or perhaps it's mainly the developers that don't particularly want any immersion loss?

I have no issue with it, but I'm sure there are those who take the lore very seriously and play the game from a perspective where horde and alliance are separate, period. No exceptions.

That's the only reason I can come up with off the top of my head for why cross faction usage would be a no-go.

    4. I can understand that though Blizzard already doesn't care about cross-faction immersion, what with the gryphon and wyvern pets not being faction specific. I guess that's more or less what I was thinking of.

Plus, as a role player, I'd love to be able to argue with people about my choice of Argent Squire. I would pull out my human squire on my blood elf paladin and dare anyone to say something about it.
