Mumper just confirmed that these new pets will be from vanilla raid bosses. They are set to be BoP drops, and from both 10 and 25 man raids.
"A set of 12 new pets have been added to all four of the vanilla raids, 3 in each. Drops from bosses." - source
These pets will be from Molten Core, BWL, AQ40 and Naxxramas. The droprate is described as "not too bad".

Can't wait to find out which bosses drop which ones! Although some of them are fairly obvious. ;)

Normally I'm against raids dropping pets, but seeing as how these will only come from vanilla raid bosses, I can let go of my stubborn opinions for this one. :P

Vanilla raids should be readily accessible by everyone, even those that haven't participated in the recent raid content. Even if you haven't done Trial of the Crusader, Icecrown Citadel, Firelands, etc., the older raids such as Molten Core, BWL, AQ40, and Naxx should be fairly easy to solo and/or clear with a relatively small group.

I'm all for the majority of collectors getting a chance at these babies. :)

  1. When I read RAID bosses, I almost had a heart attack. I was thinking NEW raid and I haven't been able to raid with my guild in years.

    YES I DO OLD STUFF THOUGH! :D :D :D

I've been very discouraged lately. I don't want to battle, I want to collect. I hate battling. It's not fun for me. I'm super bummed they changed my collecting to this new system and I hate it. A guildie is helping me out by leveling a pet he can give me that is a rare quality, so I've been using that to help me catch pets. I give it back to him and he levels it. So far this has been working and I'm slowly building up my collection again.

    1. @pandy: Yea, collecting is a whole new beast now. But at least they're continuing to add more pets that aren't from wild captures. It seems like those will be more unique and hopefully will have unique models/animations (unlike most of the wild pets).

Hang in there, hopefully there will be plenty of new pets that won't be exclusively from battling. :)

    2. If pet battling continues to be popular it may give Blizzard an excuse to add more collectible pets with special animations etc. I know Blizzard has said that they can justify making more raids now that raid finder brings more players into the raids. Hopefully, pet collecting works the same way.

    3. Pretty sure Mr. Bigglesworth is the cat from Naxxramas. I dare say it will drop from there? These should be fun to collect.

    4. @Heartfruit: That's my hope too. :)

@Pukanini: Mumper confirmed on Twitter that Mr. Bigglesworth will indeed come from Naxx.

    1. @Anonymous: I managed to solo the first boss in BWL on the second attempt. You just need to use the platforms as obstacles while kiting the mobs around. When you lose control over the boss, use heals and aoe to pull agro on the mobs.
