Another Clone?

Another beta patch will be released soon-ish. In this next build, there's a strange pet that's being added. Or should I say re-added?

It's the Spectral Tiger Cub. If that sounds familiar, it's because this pet already exists. It's a rare TCG loot card that was released in 2009 (Scourgewar). The only notable difference between the new cub and the original are the item and spell ID's.

Old: item ID 49343, spell ID 68810
New: item ID 90953, spell ID 132759

This is either a bug or an additional/new source for the pet. Or some surprise that Blizzard has for us?

Some are already speculating that it will be another Blizzard PetStore companion, however, in previous situations where a TCG card model was re-used for a PetStore redeemable item, the pet's name was changed at least a little bit (TCG = Hippogryph Hatchling, PetStore = Cenarion Hatchling).

The only other example of a companion with two different item ID's but the same exact name is Murkimus. Even then, that pet teaches the same pet summoning spell.

Oh, I guess another example would be the Fox Kit, which is going to have an additional source in the upcoming pre-MoP patch. But in that pet's situation, the item has been changed/altered slightly to include the reputation requirement to purchase it from a vendor. The original does not have this text. Both teach the same pet summoning spell.

So the new addition of the Spectral Tiger Cub to the database is puzzling indeed!

Maybe it means something. Or maybe I'm just reading way too far into it. I can't wait to see which it is. I'm a bit nervous and excited at the same time. What have they done to my adorable little cub?! *bites nails*

TCG Class Starter Decks - Release Date

Cryptozoic has announced that they are releasing the WoW TCG Fall 2011 Class Starter Decks on December 6, 2011. The decks will cost $10.99 (USD).

Unlike expansion decks, this special release will include card reprints from older decks and each class starter deck will be tuned so that new TCG players can pick one up and be ready to play.

Most notably (from a pet collector's point of view) is that the Fall 2011 Class Starter Deck will have a chance of yielding pet loot cards from previous expansions, namely the Spectral Tiger Cub and Dragon Kite, amongst other desirable loot cards! For more information about this product, you can read more about the Fall 2011 Class Starter Deck here.

I'm debating with myself whether or not I should try my luck with one of these starter decks. I've been itching for a Dragon Kite, but then again I should save up for future (guaranteed) pets. :P

Santa IS Real

or at least very keen ears are. :)

i wasn't expecting to get my hands on any of the TCG pets (although part of me did hope), nevermind the newest Spectral Tiger Cub and Tuskarr Kite. so imagine my surprise when i found out someone had bought the kitten for me!

Mr. Awesome found some of his old cards and decided to trade them in for credit at a local card shop. then he went on to pay the remaining amount for the spectral cub (about $100). the worker at the shop even gave him a 10% discount.

he definitely didn't have to, but he did. and i'm shocked. and upset. and ecstatic all at the same time!

and last but not least, i'm very very grateful. *heart*

ahhh, i've already redeemed the code and am now sitting with my newest companion in dalaran. i am a super happy collector!

It's Torture

just checked the ebay prices of the newest TCG pets, Spectral Tiger Cub and Tuskarr Kite. i'm trying very hard not to submit any bids. even though some of the kites are going for less than $40. there are even a couple going for less than $20 (non-buy-out though). nearly all of the tiger cubs are in the hundreds, both bids and buy-out. T_T

attempting to put it out of sight, out of mind. i will NOT buy these two... awesome... wonderful... cute... new pets.

my heart is being ripped and shred into pieces right now, i'm so torn.

in all honesty, i shouldn't even be checking out the prices on ANY TCG pets. but what can i say? curiosity killed the cat.

i definitely do not have the income to support that type of luxury. hell, i haven't even started christmas shopping yet! maybe i'll ask santa...

you cannot afford to buy TCG pets. you cannot afford to buy TCG pets. *repeats the mantra*
