Fear My Lance

today is day 10! guess what was the first thing i did when i logged into the game? haha.

i'm very pleased to finally add the second jouster to my collection. the in-game mail was a nice touch too. it paints a cute picture of a rambunctious little bird that misses its brother. why farden talonstrike and his fellow guardians would put him in a box and not a cage, i have no idea. perhaps that's the only container they had on hand at the time? lol. :P

overall, i'm content and satisfied with the jousting pets. the initial quest chain wasn't too long or too much of a hassle, and it had some lore mixed in while tying in well with the other lvl 80 mount hyjal quests. the daily for the second jouster wasn't as RNG reliant as the pebble daily, but you still had to do the work and had to be patient about the daily resets. it's a good balance of everything.

Jouster Questions

i'm only about halfway through the new jousting achievement on the PTR, but i'm hoping someone who's further along or has completed it can fill me in on the details about the 'unbeatable?' pterodactyl: beaten achievement reward.

- is the chirping box bind on pick up?
- is the jouster pet found inside the box bind on pick up?

stuff i should probably test: whether or not the new jousting daily is available for those who haven't completed the egg wave quest chain. i highly doubt it, but it wouldn't hurt to check it out. :)

UPDATE: just tested it out. yes, you have to complete at least the quest egg wave before the new jousting daily unlocks.

so far, so good. :D

two consecutive days of the jousting daily; that's good news! the chances of this daily being available to complete everyday is looking very good.

if it's true, then it should only take 10 days to complete the achievement, receive a chirping box, and acquire the jouster companion that you did not initially choose the first time around.

i hope everyone's ready for some "flap flap flap" lol. there's going to be a whole bunch of lance waving after 4.2 comes out.

now if only i could get my blue mini jouster to fight another player's jouster... then it will be a real jousting party!

Forgetful Me

i completely forgot about the new achievement coming in 4.2, the 'unbeatable?' pterodactyl: BEATEN.

all this time while waiting for the new hyjal and molten front dailies to reset, i could have also been doing the 10 dailies required to complete this achievement and see what's inside the box! eh, well there wasn't really any indication that it was ready to be tested, and when i initially logged onto the PTR the jousting daily wasn't even available yet. but this is just me making excuses, huh? :P

well, now i've started after reading a comment on wowhead about the chirping box reward does indeed awarding players with the jouster they did not pick the first time around. it would be very good news for all pet collectors if this is true and goes live with 4.2!

but i must confirm this for myself, damnit. so hopefully in 9 days i'll have my answer for my own eyes. some things i'd like to find out:

- what's in the box!
- is the daily available every day? or does the NPC offer the specific daily necessary (vigilance on wings) along with a varying number of other rotating dailies?
- will it take just 10 days? or will it take longer?

ahhh, so much waiting in between dailies!

Blue and Gold Mini Jouster Updates

in a previous post where i went over the blue mini jouster and gold mini jouster pets, i mentioned that there was no prerequisite in order to start the chain for the companions. however, mount hyjal has been refined and the quests have been updated since then.

you can no longer simply pick up the quests at the shrine of aviana upon entering mount hyjal. instead, you must complete the initial quest chain that's provided to you when you first discover the zone. after completing all quests up to the quest The Voice of Goldrinn (note: you don't actually have to complete this one; if you can pick it up then you are ready to head over to start the jouster chain), the quests at the shrine of aviana will unlock and you'll be able to start working on obtaining a mini jouster.

this information has been updated on the giant cataclysm pet list.

coming soon: will the blue and gold mini jousters fight each other?! are they still engaging in combat with random mobs?! once i finish up this quest chain, i'll have more information on these things. :)

**UPDATE: unfortunately, the gold and blue mini jousters still do not fight each other. also, blizzard has fixed the bug where the pets thought they were players. they no longer engage mobs nor are they flagged for pvp. however, they are still level 80 which is a pretty high level for a non-combat companion pet lol.

Blue and Gold Mini Jouster

while i was leveling up mining so i could hunt for the elusive elementium vein for a chance at the elementium geode companion, i decided to satisfy my curiosity about the quest chain that was recently changed to offer a choice between the blue and gold mini jouster pets.
