Fire On a Stick, Fire On a Stick!

The Lunar Festival just started, and although there are no new pets this year, new toys, engineering schematics, and this lovely gem pictured above (Perky Pug not included) were added.

The Perky Blaster adds a buff to your Perky Pug that causes it to run around in a circle with a firework in its mouth. These consumables are cheap, one coin for a stack of five, and they're not soulbound. So you know I just had to stock up on them. XD If I have time during the week, I'll probably head out on alts to pick up easy coins and send more pet fireworks to my banker alt to hold for future use.

Other than that, it's a pretty tame Lunar Festival. No new pets, just the two existing lanterns -- Lunar Lantern (A) and Festival Lantern (H). Collect away! :)

The Pugs Take Over

after seeing a tweet from mmo-champion about a certain puppy taking over northshire on the beta, i had to check it out for myself. sure enough, i stumbled onto the most terrifying yet adorable sight ever..

they ranged from normal "pet-size" to medium to medium-large to gigantic. the larger ones had a stacking buff that read: "test grow - 7 days remaining." and yes, all of them are barking nonstop.

the funniest part about all of this is that there is a group of stormwind royal guard that pats right into the mob of perky pugs. i can just imagine what must be going through their minds as they ride through, 'i better not be assigned to poop-duty after this shift.' :P

Now to Sleep

perky pug. took me two days. lost count of the hours. many groups with 100 random pugs.

worth it? totally.

i'm pretty fond of the new random heroic dungeon tool too. :P

Patch Day!

i was one of the lucky ones who managed to log in prior to the huge battle.net issue and log in lockout. at first i thought the core hound pup was a mistake like the op shirt that was unintentionally sent to a player by a GM. it really did seem like a mistake since only a handful of people online at the time got one too.

imagine how overjoyed i was when i found out that it was really a pet reward for having a blizzard authenticator attached to your account! i seriously thought that the pup would be part of the next expansion or a blizzard pet store item.

*insert eeeeeee here*

How Much is that Doggy in the Window?

mmo just confirmed that the Perky Pug is the reward for Looking For Multitudes achievement.
Looking For Multitudes
Use the Dungeon tool to finish random heroic dungeons until you have grouped with 100 random players total.
again, i must nit-pick the wording of this achievement. it explicitly states "finish" random heroic dungeons. according to blizzard an instance is "finished" only after the last boss is killed. so that means any partially or nearly finished pug groups won't count, unless someone from the PTR can provide evidence otherwise.

in an ideal situation, where each person you randomly are grouped with is new and different AND all the pugs you join using the dungeon tool are a success, a single person would need to run 25 pugs before receiving the pet. but when has anything ever been an ideal situation? lol.

i know i'm going to have to run more. the main tank of my guild is actually interested in getting the perky pug (now THAT'S rare), so instead of 25 groups, my total is looking more like 34. not including the possible fail runs and possible grouping with the same pugs over and over again.

this achievement looks like it's going to take a bit of work. or not. it all falls to RNG yet again. i'm crossing my fingers for an ideal situation... even though i'm not an idealist.

Patch 3.3 - Wasteling and Pug Speculation

Toxic Wasteling
doing what i usually do when there's news of possible new pets just over the horizon, i headed over to wowhead's PTR site to check out what i could find.

some interesting uncategorized spells:
  • Toxic Wasteling Passive
  • Toxic Wasteling Grow
  • Toxic Wasteling Find Target
  • Toxic Wasteling Devour
  • Toxic Wasteling Attack
is it just me, or does it sound like the Toxic Wasteling (no confirmation on this pet going live 3.3 as of yet) will search for, find and consume a small critter (or pet?), and then grow?
