Good News, Bad News - But Mostly Bad News

Good news! I bought the Darkmoon Turtle so now Speedy officially has a friend. :) The rest of the DMF will consist of doing dailies and gathering more artifacts for next month. If all goes as planned, next month I should be able to purchase the last two pets! *crosses fingers*

Also, it doesn't seem as though there is a new Vday holiday loot bag companion, so pet collectors (who feel the same as I do) can breathe a sigh of relief (for now).

Alright. The bad news. And I apologize in advance for my sarcastic, knee-jerk-emotionally-driven ranting. You've been warned.

There Is No Loot

love is in the air... but where's the loot? what a good way to start off the event! :(

the valentine's in-game holiday just kicked off tonight. good luck to all going after peddlefeet and the toxic wasteling!

if you're having trouble finding how to get to the crown chemical co. boss (it wasn't showing up in the dungeon finder tab for me), simply head to the love is in the air NPCs and one of them should queue you for the holiday boss after speaking with him.

as far as i know there are no new valentine's event pets. which is a good and bad thing imo. good since there are still many players working on obtaining the two existing companions, and adding another may only cause more stress for them. bad for those who have already acquired both peddlefeet and the wasteling; no pets for us to collect.

there are other things to do during the event, though. personally i'm going to try for the forever-lovely rose. i missed out on it during the period when holiday bosses were farmable. i didn't realize just how awesome it was until it was too late and blizzard made the change to how vanity items and holiday bosses work.

there are also two v-day dailies offered, which DO give guild reputation. (hooray!) i'll be working on those to help my grind to exalted with my guild.

so at least there's still stuff for collectors to do, even if you've already collected both pets. or you can just sit back and watch the madness take shape. XD

Warning: Do Not Feed the Wasteling

the toxic wasteling in all its glory!
the "before" picture is the wasteling's size after eating 3 rats.

the "after" picture is its size when full of rats plus a pet biscuit.

thanks to my guildies for participating in these screenshots with me :) note: no humanoids were harmed in the taking of these pictures. lucky for us, the wasteling does not have a taste for people.

Love Is In the Air!

this year's valentine's day seasonal is spectacular and full of lovely surprises.

i adore the newest addition to my vanity pet family. after a few runs, the Toxic Wasteling dropped for us. much love to my guildies who passed for me. thank you so much :)

unlike the disgusting oozeling, the toxic wasteling has a lighter color and has no aura. they are both the same size... at first.

the toxic wasteling is a really fun pet. he'll literally pounce on nearby critters without reserve. his appetite is truly an amazing sight to be seen, as he NEVER stops eating! after 3 critters, he stops growing though. but add a pet biscuit... and giant wasteling is indeed very giant.

i'm ecstatic that blizzard added this pet to live servers. i had lost all hope in ever seeing it since there was little to no news about the wasteling. it's definitely a pet fit for a mad scientist. :)

in other news: it looks as though blizzard has nearly completely revamped the love is in the air in game festival. the new quests are pretty interesting; my favorite being the running goblin. stormwind's new "love boats" are pretty neat as well!

and last but not least, i think all pet collectors can rejoice now that peddlefeet can be bought with 40 tokens. no more waking up at random hours of the night/day in order to combat the RNG gods!

Sorry, You've Been Benched

much to my disappointment, there is still no news or update on the Toxic Wasteling that was datamined from the PTR. judging from the datamined abilities, it sounded as if it was going to be a Disgusting Oozeling doped up on drugs. how awesome would that be? the oozeling and wasteling could even go on play dates together.

with so little news on this potentially new pet, and considering how far the along testing is on the PTR, it's likely that the wasteling won't make it to live servers this time around. (or blizzard's being sneaky, those sly devs.)

it's hard to say for sure, though. there have been many PTR companions that never went live. some even already had a vendor, a vendor price, an icon, a summon spell, etc, but it just wasn't meant to be. some examples are the Baby Shark and the XS-001 Constructor Bot. both wonderful ideas for vanity pets, imo, yet they never reached live servers for one reason or another. i guess even GMs need something unique to parade around with while they do their in-game duties? ;)

so i'm still hoping and waiting, but i don't think i'll hold my breath. in the long run, maybe it's better that one doesn't make the cut. i have my plate pretty full already, and yenno what they say about your eyes being bigger than your stomach, yea? heh.

Patch 3.3 - Wasteling and Pug Speculation

Toxic Wasteling
doing what i usually do when there's news of possible new pets just over the horizon, i headed over to wowhead's PTR site to check out what i could find.

some interesting uncategorized spells:
  • Toxic Wasteling Passive
  • Toxic Wasteling Grow
  • Toxic Wasteling Find Target
  • Toxic Wasteling Devour
  • Toxic Wasteling Attack
is it just me, or does it sound like the Toxic Wasteling (no confirmation on this pet going live 3.3 as of yet) will search for, find and consume a small critter (or pet?), and then grow?
