Get ready for some arena-ing if you haven't already acquired a Murkimus the Gladiator! Sign ups for the 2012 Arena Pass starts on April 10.
As in previous years, it's likely that the cost will be about $20, and to be eligible for the pet, players will need to be on a team of three that participates in 50+ rated games.
I think I'll actually go for Murkimus this year. I'm still hanging onto that old stash of birthday/X-mas money that I was hoping to save for a TCG pet, but I have yet to see a deal that's within my budget. I can definitely afford the Arena Pass, though.
Anyway, looks like I'll need to start hunting for a team of two other collectors to create an arena team for the Arena Pass!
Edit: Forgot to mention that winning isn't a requirement. Just participating in enough rated matches will qualify you for the pet. If winning were part of the prerequisite... well let's just say there's no way I'd have any chance hah!
Do you actually have to win any of the matches? I mean if you are really dreadful at PvP but you're willing to humiliate yourself in the name of pet collecting will that work?
ReplyDelete@Heartfruit: Nope, you just need to participate in the rated matches. Winning is not required, but it's encouraged to at least attempt to PVP to keep in spirit with the event.
DeleteI've heard of a few situations in past years where players that went in naked and/or afk'ed out of the match were disqualified or had their matches revoked, so it's definitely worthwhile to give winning a shot!
Oh, I'd give it the old college try, but my pvp skills are pretty dreadful and I play a hunter which doesn't help in arena situations.
DeleteI did it last year to get Murky, it was quite a laugh.
ReplyDeleteWe went in knowing we were rubbish at PvP and by the end of it I'd love to tell you we were highly trained cold blooded killing machines. But, actually we were still rubbish. ;)
After a while you'll find yourself fighting the same crap teams over and over so you do have a fighting chance.
If you have the spare cash and you don't have Murky just go for it. Who knows, you might find a flare for it.
@Raax: I'm pretty bad at PVP too, but at the very least I'll get a pet and some amusing memories from the experience! :)
DeleteIf I recall correctly, anything arena related is prohibited in my country, as it's considered gambling. Otherwise I might have given it a try myself :(
ReplyDelete@Maru: This is disappointing news! I wonder if Blizzard will consider making Murkimus available in some other fashion other than the Arena Pass.
DeleteIf trading/selling pets goes live in MoP, hopefully you can acquire Murkimus then.
I would totally love to sign up for this with some folks. Most of my friends have stopped playing WoW these days so I'll need to find someone else who is collector-oriented to group with :D
ReplyDelete@Rachelle J: Definitely check out the WarcraftPets forum thread about the Arena Pass. Hopefully more people will respond and we'll have lots of teams of like-minded collectors!
